Freezing rail fares and prescription charges

Ahead of the Budget, the Labour Government is freezing train fares for the first time in thirty years, which will help thousands of passengers in Adur and Worthing save money.

To further tackle the cost of living, we are freezing prescription charges at under a tenner and banning ticket touting, to protect music and sports fans from rip-off prices.

I am pleased that we have also signed into law a ban on the sale of plastic wet wipes, to help clean up our beautiful Sussex beaches and tackle blockages in sewage pipes.

The Home Secretary also announced new immigration measures to reduce illegal arrivals and increase returns, whilst crucially introducing capped, safe and legal routes for refugees to come here.

In Parliament, I was delighted to hold a Sony event in partnership with SpecialEffect, to celebrate 30 years of PlayStation in the UK and showcase accessible gaming technology that allows people with disabilities to play games.

Back in the constituency, it was lovely to pop along to the World of Widewater’s quiz and chat about how we can further protect the Widewater Lagoon. I also joined Lancing Girl Guides to speak about my role as our MP and watch them present on the work of different government departments!

It was great to meet with Lee from Connect Media, a local design, print, merchandise and office supplies business, before visiting one of Southdown’s supported living services in Worthing to meet with their residents and team.

Finally, after much deliberation, I picked the winning entries for my Christmas card competition, which will be announced shortly!
