“I’ve spent my career fighting for fairness and social justice, and as your MP, I will always stand up for everyone in East Worthing and Shoreham. No second jobs – just hard work, regular advice surgeries and a local MP that is on your side.”
Tom was elected as the first ever Labour MP for East Worthing and Shoreham at the July 2024 General Election, with a majority of 9,519. He lives in Shoreham and grew up just over the Sussex border in Kent, where he attended a local state school.
Following victory at the General Election in July, Tom was elected to the House of Commons’ Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee in October 2024. He also chairs the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the BBC.
Before being elected as your Member of Parliament, Tom worked in campaigning roles for a trade union, a regulator, and a leading university. He also served as a local authority councillor.
Since being elected, Tom has met with many residents, businesses, charities, schools, healthcare providers, emergency services, and community organisations across East Worthing and Shoreham. He regularly knocks on residents’ doors to check in on them and collect any casework.
In Parliament, Tom is working hard for constituents by campaigning on several local issues, including successfully securing £1.4m in funding for flood defences in East Worthing and Shoreham, solar panels for the roof of Southlands Hospital, an extension to the Rampion Wind Farm and falling waiting lists for treatment at local hospitals.
