Millions more for Adur, Worthing and West Sussex!

I am delighted that after campaigning hard for fairer funding for our area, the Labour Government is massively increasing funds for our councils!

Between now and 2029:

  1. Worthing will be getting an additional £4.8m – a 27% increase in its funding from central government. This compares to a 5% cut under the Conservatives of almost £1m in the last multi-year funding settlement 2015-20.
  2. Adur will be getting an additional £500,000, having been cut under the Conservatives in that same period.
  3. West Sussex will be getting an additional £176.9m – a 22% increase in its funding, compared to a 9% increase under the Conservatives in that period.

For too long we have not been getting our fair share and that ends today. It means more money for our high streets, our libraries, our roads and for cleaner streets.

Deprivation and housing costs are finally being taken into account when allocating money to councils – so that money goes to areas where it is needed. And when local councils are reorganised in the years ahead, that extra money will stay in our patch.

This is what two Labour MPs and two Labour councils can deliver for Adur and Worthing working alongside a Labour Government. Fairness, opportunity and properly funded public services.

You did this by electing us and we will continue to work hard alongside you to deliver a fairer, greener Adur and Worthing.

Thank you for making this happen; I’m looking forward to working with you in 2026 and beyond to keep making our area the best it can be!
