£16.5 million SEND funding for children in West Sussex
In response to parents’ concerns, the Government also announced new guidance last week on screen time for children, advising that screen use be limited to one hour a day for two to five-year-olds.
The Government also announced its proposal for the reorganisation of local government in Sussex, including a coastal unitary authority for Adur, Worthing and Arun. This would replace our existing county, borough and district councils and bring money and power closer to residents.
During a debate in Parliament, I emphasised the need to restore our wonderful Worthing Lido to its former glory. Together with Dr Beccy Cooper MP and Worthing Borough Council, we are working to transform the lido into a fantastic community space for Worthing once again.
In the constituency, I enjoyed opening a showcase of a clean maritime innovation project at Shoreham Port, which could reduce emissions across the sector, and planting trees at Seaside Primary School in Lancing in efforts to educate pupils about biodiversity.
In Worthing, I was delighted to attend the reopening of Worthing Museum and Art Gallery, which is a valuable cultural asset in our wonderful town.
To round up the week, it was great to speak with hundreds of residents in East Worthing, Broadwater, Shoreham, Southwick, Fishersgate and Lancing alongside our committed local councillors.
