Easter recess and easing the cost of living
Parliament is officially back in session after the Easter recess. Over the past couple of weeks, the Labour Government has continued to implement new measures aimed at easing the cost of living and providing support to those who need it most.
More than 12 million people will see their State Pension increase by up to £575, fuel duty has been frozen until autumn, and the two-child limit no longer exists, lifting 450,000 children out of poverty.
It has been wonderfully sunny in the constituency, so it was great to spend time outdoors with Findon Valley Residents’ Association, where we tidied up their lovely community garden. I took advantage of the good weather to enjoy a river walk up to Bramber on Easter Sunday and make the most of the beautiful countryside on our doorstep.
I also had the opportunity to meet with the Founder of Electric Storm Youth to learn more about their journey and exciting plans for the future. It was a pleasure to attend the Worthing Scout and Guide Gang show, which was a wonderful evening and marked the show’s 60th birthday.
Over the weekend, it was fantastic to speak with residents across Southwick, Broadwater, East Worthing, Lancing and Shoreham with Peter Kyle MP to pick up casework directly from constituents at their doors. I particularly enjoyed seeing one resident’s collection of ‘junkbox’ guitars he makes, including a fantastic one of Shoreham Airport!
