Merry Christmas to everyone in Adur and Worthing!
Thanks to this Labour Government, our new Railways Bill is progressing through Parliament, so we can regain control of our railways. From May 2026, Southern Rail will be publicly owned, meaning fewer delays, frozen fares, and amplifying passengers’ voices under Great British Railways.
We additionally launched our National Plan to End Homelessness, backed by £3.5 billion of investment, including almost £149 million for the South East, to support families across Adur and Worthing facing insecure housing.
I am glad that we have further announced that 30,000 young service personnel will have their travel home covered this festive period.
I have also been campaigning for fairer funding for Adur and Worthing councils so that we can improve our area. I was glad to raise this during my debut appearance on BBC Politics South East last Sunday, which you can watch on iPlayer.
In Parliament, it was great to meet pupils from Sir Robert Woodard Academy for a Q&A session, as well as welcoming local residents for a tour with my team. Please do get in touch if you would like to book a tour next year: [email protected].
I am delighted to announce the winners of my Christmas card competition – Emilia from St Peter’s Catholic Primary School, Sky from Holmbush Primary Academy, and Archie from Sompting Village Primary!
Their wonderful cards have been sent to the King, the Prime Minister, across Westminster and Adur and Worthing. I also had the pleasure of presenting them to the Speaker of the House of Commons, and he agreed that they were truly special.
I hope everyone has a restful Christmas and New Year!
