Worthing Heat Network switches on
Last week, the Prime Minister attended the Munich Security Conference, so our Government can continue to stand up to the threats that Britain faces and deliver national and economic security.
Through our new Representation of the People Bill, we are introducing the most ambitious changes to our democracy in a generation. This includes introducing votes at 16, toughening up rules on political donations, and cracking down on abuse directed at those in public life. Local council elections will also now go ahead this May.
To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we announced ‘fast track’ apprenticeship reforms to support our young people to enter the industries of the future.
I was also pleased to support the 3UP campaign in Parliament, which seeks to address the imbalances in the structure of English football, alongside Dr Beccy Cooper MP and Barry Hunter, the Chairman of Worthing Football Club.
In the constituency, it was great to attend the launch of Worthing Heat Network’s new Energy Centre, marking the completion of Phase One – with the Town Hall, Assembly Rooms, and Connaught Theatre just some of the buildings now connected. Once completed, the network will provide green and locally produced heating for nearby homes, businesses, and organisations, including Worthing Hospital.
I also met with the Chief Executive of Shoreham Port and enjoyed a boat tour of the Port, before heading to Worthing for a Q&A session at Davison High School with local students, and a tour of St Andrew’s CofE High School.
Over the weekend, I had a brilliant time at St Giles Church’s fish and chips quiz, and engaging with residents at Shoreham Farmers’ Market and at their doors in Broadwater. I hope everyone got the chance to enjoy the brief spells of sunshine!
