Cracking down on dodgy vape and betting shops
The Labour Government has unveiled plans to give our community and councils greater say over new vape shops, betting shops, and adult gaming centres in Adur and Worthing, addressing residents’ concerns.
The Prime Minister also announced measures to end rip-off discounts and subscription traps by making it easier to cancel subscriptions.
Despite the increased pressures due to the high temperatures, I was glad to see NHS waiting lists fall in June, for the first time since 2011.
In Shoreham, I joined UKHarvest’s Community Food Hub at the fire station to help distribute food that would otherwise go to waste and visited B&Q for a tour and to meet with the manager and team members. I also managed to catch the fantastic rafts on the River Adur for the Raft Race!
In Worthing, I caught up with the Chief Executive of Worthing & Adur Chamber of Commerce and attended a fun eighties-themed drag bingo night at the Assembly Hall!
I have enjoyed door-knocking in Shoreham and Lancing throughout the week to chat with residents and to note any issues my team and I can help with. It was good to end it at St Mary’s Church in Sompting for Evensong and Morris dancing.
This week marks eleven years since the Shoreham Airshow crash. My thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones on that awful day.
