Bringing South Street to Downing Street

Last week, we marked Armistice Day with a moving two-minute silence outside Worthing Town Hall, alongside veterans and members of the community, to honour those who defended our country and fought for our freedom.

In Westminster, I was delighted to accompany Lancing’s own Victoria Tripp from Bakkus Taproom to a special South East small business reception at 11 Downing Street with the Chancellor.

To address the need for a safe cycle path on the A259 between Shoreham and Brighton for residents, I met with the Minister for Local Transport to express my concerns about West Sussex County Council’s lack of action on this issue.

I was pleased to hear that NHS waiting lists are down by 230,000, and ambulances are arriving ten minutes faster than this time last year, thanks to this Labour Government and our dedicated NHS staff.

In the constituency, it was wonderful to visit Lancing College Preparatory School and speak with pupils about British democracy. I also picked up several hundred Christmas cards from local schools for my competition.

I had a fantastic time celebrating Ropetackle’s 18th birthday on Friday night, where we toasted the venue’s success. It was also good to catch up with Adam, the owner of Lancing’s Tamp and Grind coffee shop.

To conclude the week, I went door-to-door in New Monks Park to speak with residents alongside Councillor Lee Cowen. Finally, I’m very pleased that Caroline Baxter has been selected as the Labour candidate for Sussex Mayor. Caroline brings a wealth of local business and political experience, and I look forward to campaigning for her!
