Flying high at Shoreham Airport
Last week was certainly busy here in East Worthing and Shoreham!
It was brilliant to visit Shoreham Airport to meet their Director of Aviation Services, firefighters and air traffic controllers – as well as the businesses based there, including AeroVolt, Gochers Laundry, Advance Helicopters, and Cox Marine.
I even had the chance to fly in an electric aeroplane and see the spectacular views over Adur and Worthing, including the pier!
Also in Shoreham, I met with Yak Shack’s Smart Watersports Rental at their new beach site where you can rent a paddleboard or kayak to use on the water. I also visited Esteem, who do fantastic work supporting young people in our area, Rivervale Cars in Shoreham, and Heidelberg Materials at the Port!
In Lancing, it was good to see Electric Storm Youth’s Skate Jam in action, and to meet with Certified Minds, Apron Community Farm and the leadership of BHAFC Foundation.
In Southwick, I met with Community People at Eastbrook Manor Community Centre and Southwick Rangers again.
In Worthing, it was great to join Pingsters Table Tennis Club for a few games! I also joined the community in remembering the Srebrenica genocide at an event organised by Worthing Masjid at Worthing Town Hall.
I enjoyed speaking with residents at their doors alongside our local councillors in Southwick, Widewater and on Shoreham Beach.
Further afield, the Prime Minister announced that local mayors will get a share of income tax raised in their areas, as part of his plans to take power out of Westminster and put it into your hands.
We additionally announced we will invest in young people by providing a new bursary of up to £4,500 per household per year to remove barriers to accessing apprenticeships.
Finally, over the weekend, it was lovely to celebrate Pride in Brighton, and at Shoreham’s Crown and Anchor!
