Two years as your Member of Parliament
Last week marked two years since you placed your trust in me to represent us in Parliament at the 2024 General Election.
Since then, I have been working hard alongside our Labour Government and local Labour councils to serve our community.
I am proud of the fantastic achievements we have secured for our area, including £4 million in funding for our flood defences, a new mitigation pipe for Lancing’s Widewater Lagoon, a citizen science water quality monitoring facility for Worthing, and much more. Thank you for putting your faith in me as your MP.
In Westminster, the Government announced its Defence Investment Plan, which includes a £15 billion additional funding boost to transform our armed forces and keep the UK safe in an increasingly unstable world.
In the House of Commons, I welcomed the announcement of a new youth hub for Adur and asked how the Government plans to further support young people in our area into work, education and training.
I was also delighted to celebrate a Shoreham business by taking the owner of the new Fizzy Rascal sweet shop to Number 11 for a small business reception hosted by the Chancellor.
Back in the constituency, I joined a road safety demonstration outside of Downsbrook and Whytemead primary schools. I then visited Shoreham Port to see the impressive Nao Santa Maria boat, followed by door-knocking in Lancing to pick up casework from residents, and my advice surgery in Shoreham.
Over the weekend, it was brilliant to join the parade at Worthing Pride alongside friends and constituents. I also stayed up for the England v Mexico match – what a game, we are never going to forget that!
