Our Labour government is determined to make local government more efficient and responsive to residents’ needs. Here in Sussex we’re electing a Mayor next May, and our district, borough and county councils will merge – reducing waste, ending duplication, and making sure the same council that does the roads also does the bins.

International relations have been the theme of the week, with the Prime Minister securing £150bn of investment into the UK as part of the US state visit, which will create 7,600 good jobs. 

I am inviting parents and carers from across East Worthing and Shoreham to join me for a coffee morning to hear about their experiences of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) provision.

The event will take place on Friday 3rd October from 11am to 1pm in Lancing.

I’m pleased to have been appointed as a Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

This means I’ll be supporting the brilliant ministerial team at Defra to improve and protect the environment, grow the green economy, support our world-leading food, farming and fishing industries – and of course, cleaning up our waterways and seas!

I’m delighted that after campaigning with Cllr Vicki Wells, we have secured a dedicated citizen science water quality monitoring facility for Worthing, funded by Southern Water and based at Splashpoint, which will complement the Environment Agency’s weekly samples. Thank you to our local volunteers who will be carrying this important work out for our community!

It was wonderful to show them the work my team and I do both locally and in Westminster.

I am really pleased to share the news that Worthing will have its own dedicated citizen science water quality monitoring facility, fully funded by Southern Water and generously supported by South Downs Leisure, that will serve both East Worthing & Shoreham and Worthing West.

After a lovely summer recess in the constituency, Parliament is well and truly back, and we have wasted no time in delivering for working people.  

It has truly been a glorious summer in the constituency! I have really enjoyed meeting with so many local businesses, organisations, and residents.

Last week, we came together as a community to remember and pay tribute to the 11 men who were killed at the Shoreham Airshow crash 10 years ago. 

It was incredibly moving to meet with some of the families who lost their loved ones and to hear from them about the lives of their sons, fathers and brothers.
