Parliament is officially back in session after the Easter recess. Over the past couple of weeks, the Labour Government has continued to implement new measures aimed at easing the cost of living and providing support to those who need it most.

After advocating for stronger protections for workers in our area, I am pleased that this Labour Government is delivering new measures to enhance workers’ rights and increase pay for local people.

In response to parents’ concerns, the Government also announced new guidance last week on screen time for children, advising that screen use be limited to one hour a day for two to five-year-olds.

After campaigning in Parliament, I am delighted that Adur and Worthing will receive nearly £4 million for our flood defences, building long-term resilience for our community and helping to protect homes and businesses in Shoreham, Lancing and Worthing.

Many households are understandably worried about the Middle East conflict and its impact on the cost of living. Those using oil to heat their homes have been hit by an enormous price shock and the Government has announced over £50m in support for low-income families heating their homes in this way.

Last week, the Chancellor delivered her Spring Forecast, highlighting how this Labour Government is changing Britain for the better.

Too many parents, carers, children and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) practitioners across Adur and Worthing have been battling a broken SEND system for years.

After a brief recess, we have returned to Parliament!

It has been lovely to spend more time back in the constituency, knocking on doors in Broadwater and Shoreham with our fantastic local councillors to catch up with residents and pick up any casework.

Last week, the Prime Minister attended the Munich Security Conference, so our Government can continue to stand up to the threats that Britain faces and deliver national and economic security.

Work has officially begun on the Widewater Lagoon nature reserve, helping secure the lagoon’s future for generations to come.
